Come and study with me!
My name is Mrs. H, and I am an experienced teacher from Southern Indiana. I love to learn with you, laugh with you, and learn about you during our time!
I have 16 years of experience teaching English and Music at the elementary, middle, high school, and collegiate levels.
I enjoyed a career teaching reading, writing, theatre, music, and test preparation through my time in K-12 and adjunct college teaching. My students found great success and growth through our time together, and I was consistently asked to be part of educational leadership teams, curriculum development, and to lead programs for students. I have work with students in private, parochial, and public K-12 schools as well as at community colleges and regional universities.
Music is what I love! After working as a K-12 school teacher for 16 years, I finally took a leap and opened my own music studio. Teaching music is a gift to my heart, and I have built a strong studio of singers here in Southern Indiana. I love teaching in-person or online (when the student requires it). The student (parents, if applicable) and I decide on the path that the student wants to take based on their interests and their own voices (this is especially pertaining to older teen through adult students, who may have pre-professional or professional experience or ambitions). The musical art, as well as vocal health, are at the center of our study, but the art of music as therapy is just as important— in our crazy world, creating music together is a healthy way to relieve stress and tension, to recenter ourselves, and to give us strength to carry on.
As a college-educated vocal musician (B.A., Music, M.A., Education), a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, a member of the Music Teacher’s National Association, and an experienced director of community and school-based youth theatre and music, I am here to help you develop and enjoy your singing! I am comfortable teaching all levels of music, from beginners (and even those who think they “can’t sing”) through professional singers (including students preparing for college or professional auditions), we will get you ready for your musical dreams!
