Paul G. offers Geometry Lessons

Parawan S. from Mc Lean, VA Paul has been tutoring our 17-yr old son (high school junior) for the past 18 months in algebra, geometry, matrix algebra, compounding interest rates, statistics, trigonometry, and calculus. Our son's grades have improved (from low C's to high B's, and even some A-work) and he has far more confidence in his ability to learn. Because he no longer spends so much time struggling with math, his grades in other subjects also have improved. And, very importantly to us, our son has learned that self-esteem comes from working hard to succeed. Paul is an excellent tutor and a great role model. He comes to each lesson fully prepared to teach and work through problems. He is an engineer by training and profession, not a math teacher, but he uses his experience and problem solving skills to great effect. Paul's approach is to work through problems together and let our son figure out for himself how to solve problems. He will provide suggestions on how to approach a problem, often using examples from his engineering experience to illustrate the issue at hand. Our son has really responded well to this approach, it makes the lessons seem real for him, and Paul has a great way of explaining concepts in ways that can be grasped easily. Paul is also a musician, as is our son, so they are able to relate to one another on that level too. Paul is always patient and encouraging. We are very impressed with his dedication to tutoring-- he seems to love what he is doing and puts a great deal of effort into his work. I know he is looking for more students to tutor. On an interpersonal level, he has a warm, engaging personality and a good sense of humor. If your child is struggling with math, I know Paul could be a great help.
