Tony D. from Lexington Park, MD I am 57 years old and have decided to go back to school and get a bachelor?s degree. I work full time so I am attending an online college. Finite (discrete) math was one of my required math classes and after about two weeks into the class I knew I was in trouble. Most of the problems were word problems which I have always had trouble with and a lot of the other math just went over my head. I was kind of apprehensive to hire a tutor but I needed help if I was to pass this course. I looked on the internet and found WYZANT.COM. There were several math tutors to choose from but Carrie seemed to have the most experience and listed my exact subject in the ones she taught. We met at a place that was mutually agreeable to both of us that had Wi-Fi so I could get to my class material online. I was beginning to second guess my decision because I had already paid out about a thousand dollars for the class, books and other materials and hiring a tutor is not a trivial expense. All of my fears went away however when Carrie arrived. Carrie was very professional, self-confident, and friendly. We got to work right away. There was no socializing or small talk, we were there to get me to understand my subject and pass my class. After a brief introduction and discussion of what I expected from our sessions and her expectations of me it was all business. There was no wasted time and we set up a new appointment at the end of each session. Carrie was very knowledgeable on the subject, showed me some shortcuts and how to use my ti-84 calculator more efficiently. Carrie challenged me and helped me learn. Not only did I pass the class I got an ?A?. I would definitely recommend Carrie as a tutor and I do not regret the decision to hire her at all. In fact it is one of the better decisions I have made concerning my education. Thank you again Carrie.
