Math can be fun and easier than you think!
I have a Ph.D. degree from Rice University with background in math and computer science. I am now an independent investment advisor. Before this, I was a financial advisor. Before that, I was an assistant professor. Even before that? I was studying at Rice University.
I love teaching. Being able to explain math in a way that most people can understand is so rewarding to me! To some people, math is hard or scary and the step-by-step reasoning seems like a magic show. It does not have to be th…

Lesha W. from Houston, TX Ming is such an incredible tutor. He is very patient and makes everything so clear. I learned so much in the 1st week of our sessions. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!
Takaishia S. from Houston, TX Our first experience with Mr. Ming Z. has been wonderful, although my 8th grader and I have a long road to go with pre-algebra I'm feeling more confident and optimistic now that we've selected Mr. Ming as our tutor.
Robert H. from Sugar Land, TX I am happy to report that the most difficulty experienced in the process of obtaining a tutor has been my own procrastination and worry - Once I was able to make a decision and reach out to Ming for assistance - everything seemed to change. It was as if my ability or lack of when it comes to helping my daughter with the challenges she faces in Algebra II - vanished after the first communication with Ming which happened to be late one night since that was the only time in my hectic schedule that allowed me to actually stop and research these options. Ming was very accommodating, understanding, and encouraging. Enough about my relationship with Ming as a Parent - let's move on to what really matters and what I am convinced to be Ming's passion - facilitating the process of revealing math to his students. I must preface the following by indicating that my daughter has not received any quiz grades since meeting with Ming, however there is an undeniable confidence in her ability to discuss/explain her understanding of the areas covered in the initial tutoring session. Additionally, she was encouraged by the way that Ming communicated complicated subject matter clearly. Lastly, and probably the most indicative sign that Ming has made progress - (remember prior to grading) -is that my daughter was comfortable and is now even excited about her next tutoring session. As you can tell, I am excited also and in some sense I compare this to when my daughter needed braces because at one time she avoided smiling because of her teeth and since meeting with Ming we have been able to be happy about her ability to learn Math
Aase M. from Santa Fe, NM I embarked on my Series 7 studies with the knowledge that I had only one opportunity to pass this exam. Knowing my weak area was Options, I searching for a tutor with that expertise. I'm so grateful I found Ming. Not only did Ming help me conquer the options portion of the exam, but additionally, he provided tips on how to prepare for the exam overall. Ming's communication style is very crisp & clear, he was always punctual & showed great patience. I unequivocally recommend Ming as I believe he was instrumental in my passing the Series 7 exam on my first attempt!
Andrew R. from San Antonio, TX Ming Z. is really patient and good at tutoring. I would recommend him to other students who need help studying statistics.
Timothy H. from Fort Lauderdale, FL Finished up for this year and Ming was outstanding. He both grasps Portfolio Theory very well and is very good at communicating it. As with any tutor, it is important to be able to supplement the instructor, so it's a win-win situation. I felt with my instructor, his TA, and Ming, I could grasp the subject and understand its content better. It takes a village sometimes to learn. Also, it can be very hard to try to prepare a question on what you don't know you don't know, in time for office hours, so a virtual one-on-one was advantageous. As courses become more theoretical to compete with "free online versions of plug and chug", it is important to have such virtual tutors, for it makes us better students and maximizes our time with our primary instructor.
