I was 12 years old when I started to learn French in Izmir, a major city on the Aegean coast of Turkey. The teaching language of my middle and high schools (established and supervised by the French government) was French. Additionally, I developed a habit of reading French classics. After graduating from high school, I went to receive a B.A. in Philosophy in Istanbul.
