American Sign Langauge Tutor

I am a recent graduate of an Interpreting Program of Saint Paul College in Minnesota. I am currently work with and for Deaf and Deaf Blind clients with a non profit as a respite. I am fluent in ASL. I advocate for the Deaf Community. I have tutored students while I was attending class in Saint Paul. It would be nice to do the same here in Chicago. I enjoy teaching ASL, and look forward to meeting people who are willing to learn. You can reach me via email or phone.

Takia W. from Chicago, IL I had a great first lesson with Isaac. He was warm, friendly and made me feel very comfortable during the lesson. His teaching style was relaxed as opposed to the more regimented structure of my online class. As a result I learned a ton of stuff in just one hour. This lesson with Isaac definitely impressed upon me the importance of having a tutor or at least face to face interaction when learning American Sign Language.

Michael M. from Winnetka, IL Isaac is awesome. He's a really nice, personable guy who we instantly felt comfortable with. He came to us with lots of options for ways to learn sign language, from very organized drills and worksheets to open, free-form conversation. We settled on the latter and took to meeting at the coffee shop and learning sign by pretending we couldn't speak. The real-world urgency to communicate really focused me and made me receptive to the things Isaac wanted to convey. My sign skills skyrocketed. After 3 or 4 sessions, I watched the movie Children of a Lesser God, which takes place at a deaf school, and understood most of what they were signing! It felt incredible. I can't recommend Isaac enough.

Becca H. from Chicago, IL First lesson: We started with the basics. He was patient, engaging, and encouraging. I felt so comfortable so quickly! I really can't express how much that meant to me, as I am naturally a very anxious person. He was wonderful. After several lessons, I can say that nothing has changed. Isaac is awesome. I have learned a great deal in a very short amount of time. I have already purchased more lessons than I originally intended simply because I enjoy them so much. My friends, family, and coworkers are surprised to see how much I have learned after so few sessions. I have even taught them a few things. I also recently found out that a distant cousin of mine had been teaching her baby "baby signs," which was super cool because I could communicate with her while we celebrated Christmas. I look forward to more lessons with Isaac. I would recommend him to anyone. He's a 10!

Eric L. from Chicago, IL I'm a total beginner with ASL and Isaac was great at introducing me to the language. My first lesson was well paced and we managed to cover a lot. He taught some basic signs and a little bit about deaf culture. He's very flexible and willing to adapt to my interests, and he uses video as a helpful teaching tool.
