Physics and Mathematics tutor, Harvard-trained with NASA experience

I am an experienced high school physics and mathematics teacher, retired, with current Massachusetts certification in both areas. I have taught various levels of mathematics—through calculus—as standalone courses and as part of the content of physics courses, so I have a range of pedagogical strategies to employ in these areas. I am very much aware of the challenges many students face in their early encounters with these subjects, and work to build confidence as well as proficiency.

Jessica D. from Concord, MA Clark was an excellent tutor for my physics 1 class this past summer. He had great availability and was very patient and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend Clark and would not hesitate to use him for my Physics 2 class! He put in a lot of extra effort by making study sheets for each chapter and e-mailed to check and see my progress!

Melanie C. from Boston, MA Clark was a great tutor, and helped me grasp the deeper meaning of the concepts of calculus. He's got plenty of cool stories that he can relate to each problem- making it more interesting and easier to remember!

Kris K. from Boston, MA I signed up for tutoring on some complex physics problems for the MCAT. My experience exceeded expectations. Clark sent me notes (via email) showing each step necessary to solve each problem days before our appointment. The notes actually explained everything saving lots of time.

Joyce B. from Lexington, MA My son is receiving physics B tutoring from Clark, and he is very happy with the instruction received to date. My son has been able to understand the basic concepts better and Clark has helped him to review for a test to be taken the next day at school. Clark was very patient and thorough, and my son learned a great deal in just one two-hour lesson. I feel very lucky that my son is receiving tutoring from Clark. Thanks, Clark!

Rehana R. from Watertown, MA I never thought that doing poorly (I won?t say quite how poorly) on my first physics test in the tenth grade would be disguised as a blessing. Because of that performance, I was able to have Mr. N as a tutor. Having a man who worked on the Apollo projects for NASA for a physics tutor does have its benefits. Mr. N?s understanding of physics ranges far beyond the textbook. Yes, he can prepare me more than adequately for classes and tests (and adequately for me means an ?A?). But what he has done for my intellectual curiosity ranges far beyond what can be described by a good test score. When Mr. N showed me a derivation of time and length dilation in special relativity, I was fascinated. I had never thought that such concepts would be accessible to me so early in my education, and they wouldn?t have been if it weren?t for Mr. N. I knew right then that physics was in my future, for having received a taste of higher level physics, I had the appetite for more. To me Mr. N has been not a tutor but a mentor. To whoever is reading this, I recommend you use Mr. N for whatever math/physics tutoring you need. Even if you don?t plan on going into a math/science field, Mr. N will give you an in depth knowledge of the subject that will help you succeed in your academic endeavors and satisfy your curiosity.

Desiree A. from Chestnut Hill, MA I contacted Clark at the beginning of fall semester for assistance on my Calculus I course. I lacked the basics to understand and be able to succeed in the class but with Clark's patience and constant encouragement I was able to pass and actually understand Calculus. He is a wonderful tutor and a great person in general. I would highly recommend him to anyone I know.?Honest, helpful, and encouraging are just some of the words that can be used to describe Clark. Thank you for helping me overcome my difficulties and ultimately succeed in the course!?

Agi M. from Roslindale, MA Clark has been helping me with Precalculus from 2012-2013 and with his help I was able to bring my average up two whole letter grades! He broke everything down and made it more simple, as well as being patient with questions or teaching material in a different way if I didn't understand it. He is always easy to reach and responds asap to all my emails. He's a great tutor, and a smart guy who is reliable and effective!

Lis A. from Watertown, MA Another great tutoring session. It's so much fun as a teacher to have a tutor, especially when I tell my students that I don't have time to see them after school because I have to see my tutor. Finally, I get their attention.

Monique M. from Woburn, MA Clark was an excellent match for my eleventh and twelfth grade daughter. He guided her through the content only taking time where needed to reteach content. He used the time to help her to solidly understand all the math concepts.

Serra K. from Cambridge, MA Clark helped me with my astronomy related course this morning and he was the best at everything! Seriously he is so knowledgeable and so trustworthy and he explains everything so well with great examples. I had previously sent him a copy of our material which he answered all of the questions before he even arrived . Very Impressed! Thanks a lot.

Elisabeth T. from Somerville, MA Clark is teaching physics to my 16 year old daughter and math to my 13 year old son. In the first case, my daughter is being homeschooled, so Clark has provided her with a textbook, and software help to organize the lessons. He has figured out that she needs help with some algebra and will be doing both with her. Not only is he providing a framework, detecting the weak points, and explaining the material so that she can understand it, but he is also very pleasant. I can't imagine that my daughter would ever have such great physics teaching in a classroom; she may still come to like science! My 13 year old son is in both grade in school and has been struggling with math for a few months. He's the kind of student who has never had trouble with school so tends to think he shouldn't need help; embarrassed by finding the material difficult he's been giving up without trying. Clark has in a few lessons brought his self-confidence to the point of attempting solutions, and asking for help early. This is an incredibly important lesson! But, there's more: Clark is available for questions over email! I am really pleased to have found such a patient, dedicated and engaged teacher!
