Mid Valley Early Childhood Education Center

Our names are Mariano & Delia Gutierrez (Grimaldo).

We first met in 1987 in which we were both working for the Texas Migrant Council Headstart Program. Since both our interests in educating and upbringing the brightest of young children was common we too had an interest in each other. We married 3 years later and we started our plans and goals to provide an atmosphere of the most expertise and innovative educational environment well known in Weslaco.

I Mariano while Delia was still working for the TMCHP was promoted with the agency and started working for the Child Care Management Services a branch of service from the TMCHP (now the Texas Workforce Commission Child Care Services.) I monitored and contracted Daycare Centers to provide quality care for children referred from our agency. As my concern grew for providing the best care and educational resources for young children so did my eagerness to join my wife in a venture that brought us to our present destiny of having the biggest center with the best qualified staff on hand. Three years after we married Delia resigned from her position as Head teacher with the TMCHP and opened our first facility in June of 1993.

We rented in 1993 from the San Pablo Presbyterian Church (Capacity 27) behind the old HEB in Weslaco and started our first day care facility. Fearing that were were meeting our capacity attendance and might violate Licensing Standards we then moved to the Apostolic Assembly Hall on Huisache Street in 1997 (Capacity 67) and added infant care seeing that the need was everywhere. We began to grow in attendance due to word of mouth and because students that were becoming Superstars at the Weslaco Indendent School District mostly derived from our facility.

We then purchase and opened up the Mid-Valley Early Childhood Education Too! at 405-thru 407 S. Nebraska where we are now! (Capacity 87). This new location is centered downtown where we provide services to clients from Progresso Donna Mercedes and surrounding areas. One and a half year later we were blessed with the opportunity to purchase 409 S. Nebraska next door and we had no need to rent from the Apostolic Church any more. (Capacity now 118) with 10 slots for babies.

Throughout the years of trial and error we have arrived to a point of self-gratification seeing that each student arriving at our center begins a journey of self growth involving their education and respect for others through the teaching of good moral standards and behavior so that each child will gain true sincere integrity and self-esteem. Positive behavior is well praised and honored within our confines.
