Preschool in Union City, CA 94587
Our commitment at Kidango is to ensure all children have access to the best opportunities for growth, focused on education and health. Each of our preschools and child care centers ensure that all children—regardless of family income or background—have access to the academic and social opportunities needed to be prepared for kindergarten and a lifetime of learning. We offer tuition assistance to families who qualify, and serve more than 17,000 children in five counties. Founded with a single center in 1979, today Kidango is one of California’s largest non-profit child development agencies.

At Kidango, we focus on academics, exploration, and curiosity. We design highly individualized curricula for each child—incorporating their passions or interests into a structured program focused on the academic, social, and emotional competencies they’ll need to be prepared for kindergarten. Beyond the structured learning for reading, writing, math, science and the arts, we encourage Kidango kids to explore, play, and make choices.
Imagine, for example, that a group of children are playing in the yard. A caterpillar might crawl across the ground and you suddenly see curiosity and excitement light up in their eyes as they talk about it amongst each other. In traditional childcare programs, that’s the end of the story. At Kidango, our philosophy and guidance means this becomes an opportunity for our teachers to turn the child’s curiosity into a meaningful learning experience—perhaps about nature and entomology; guiding children in asking relevant questions and discovering more about the world around them.
One of the more unique elements of Kidango is that we serve the whole child. Nutritious meals throughout the day—designed by professional nutritionists and prepared by professional chefs—are included for all children in their tuition. We also offer early intervention, mental health, and therapeutic services to families with children who need guidance through behavioral or learning issues that, left unchecked, can leave a lasting impact throughout their school years.
Our philosophy and teachers are the heart of Kidango. We look for uncommonly experienced teachers who are credentialed, but who also have a special gift—they are affable and able to easily connect with children and families. We try to instill a relationship with the teachers so children look forward to learning and going to school.
