The Montessori method of education is a philosophy of education which has been tried and proven by Dr. Maria Montessori. Dr. Montessori, an Italian physician and educator, developed this new educational method based on her scientific observation of children. She developed special learning environment, materials and methods. Her goal was to educated and challenge children and prepare them for later life experiences. Each Montessori classroom environment is carefully planned and preparEducation It is filled with specially designed, developmentally as well as age appropriate, multi-sensory, sequential and a part of daily life. These educational materials facilitate learning of skills and concepts as well as enhancing self esteem. The classroom environment is child centered, rather than teacher oriented, and provides the opportunity for an individually paced learning experience. This learning experience is supported by highly trained teacher whose goal is to provide a stimulating and challenging but non-pressured environment. The Montessori method is a “whole child” approach to education.
