First Discovery Montessori School

Dr. Maria Montessori the first woman physician of Italy became involved with education by treating children who had special needs. In 1907 she opened her first child care center called A Childrens House where she created a program filled with developmentally appropriate materials for all children. These materials provide experiences that contributed to the growth of self-motivated independent learners.

Dr. Montessori truly believed that children teach themselves. She felt that the goals of early childhood education should not be to fill the child with facts from a pre-selected course of studies but rather to cultivate his own natural desire to learn.

The acceptance of her loving care and method of education for the children resulted in the proliferation of her worldwide Montessori Teacher Training Centers. During her later years her focus was centered around educating children to promote the principles of peace.

At First Discovery our goal is and will continue to be to provide a learning environment designed to meet the childs academic social emotional and physical needs. A child will learn the skills for everyday living sorting grading classifyingall which lead to the development of writing reading and a mathematical mind. The excitement of learning will be of the childs own choice.

Our staff consists of dedicated patient caring certified Montessori teachers and assistants. We not only nurture the child but we also support the parents by encouraging them to communicate their ideas and concerns. We work as a team to help prepare the child to attain responsibility and self-discipline simply because there can be no true and lasting happiness in life without it. First Discovery is a great school they have very caring and loving teachers. Every daycare has had their share of students that are aggressive, it is how the teachers handle and if they let the parents of both the children know about the situation. My children have all been to this school, they all enjoyed it to the fullest. Today when I picked my daughter up all the kids were dancing with one of the teachers and they were having a blast. The kids in this school are very well educated and have fun while doing. Thank You First Discovery for a hard working mother feel comfortable leaving her children.

I have sent my three children to First Discovery Montessori and feel lucky to have been able to send my children to such a wonderful school. First Discovery has been around for 15+ years because of the great education, teachers and atmosphere it provides. The owner is very understanding and easily to deal with and the teachers have all been apart of the school for years.
