3. Play is a childs work; therefore free play is very important to a childs growth and
learning.

7. The Parent/Child relationship is the most important relationship in a childs life and
the teacher should seek to encourage and support it.
8. The teachers role is one of protector, nurturer, friend and supporter of the child and
his or her family.
9. St. Thomas/Holy Spirit Lutheran Childrens Learning Center is Gods Care Center for
children. Children naturally thrive in a non-threatening environment where Christian
love is reflected in the lives and actions of the Child Care Center Staff. Such an
atmosphere of Christian love makes it possible for children to discover Gods love
demonstrated in word and deed.
