Sacred Heart Villa

Preschool in Saint Louis, MO 63110

Sacred Heart Villa, established and directed

by the the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, is a Catholic preschool whose educational program is dedicated to the total

intellectual, spiritual, physical and socia/emotional development of young children.

Recognizing that parents are their child’s

primary teachers, the staff works in partnership with the parents to provide a safe, creative and loving environment. Our school community embraces the Cathilic faith, nurtures the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, encourages enthusiasm for life-long learning, fosters personal growth, and respects the unique gifts of each child.
As educators in a Catholic school, we are called to proclaim and witness to the Gospel message. The Love of the Heart of Christ, as exemplified in the life of Clelia Merloni (our foundress), empowers us to respond to the challenges of the Church today. We commit ourselves to evangelization through the ministry of education and the creation of a supportive and challenging climate, which affirms the dignity of all persons within the school community.

The curriculum provides the children with a variety of learning activities that are developmentally age appropriate. SHV stresses socialization as well as academic learning. The curriculum has a balance of structured and unstructured tasks with both teacher-directed/facilitated and child-initiated activities. The program focuses on all areas of development: spiritual, social, emotional, cognitive, and physical.

Our Tiny Tots and Preschool programs incorporate Creative Curriculum as the foundation to establish best practices in an early childhood environment. Teachers will use objectives that are organized into nine areas of development and learning. The objectives describe the knowledge, skills, and behaviors that are most predicative of school success. Students will have the opportunity to explore ten interest areas in their classrrom or throughout SHV. These interest areas include blocks, dramatic play, toys and games, art, music & movement, cooking, technology, the outdoors, discovery, and library/book exploration.

The Kindergarten curriculum builds on the readiness skills formed during the earlier years. This curriculum follows the Archdiocese of St. Louis & Missouri State guidelines.
