Hunters Woods Preschool

The Hunters Woods Preschool is a parent participation preschool, which is non-profit, non-sectarian and non-discriminating.

The Hunters Woods Preschool was created in 1970 by a group of interested and committed parents who sought to develop a cooperative in the Reston area. The school consists of parents participating in the classroom, experienced and educated teachers, and an executive board elected by the general membership.

The Purpose of Our School

HWPS is designed to encourage preschool-age children (3 & 4 year olds) a sense of worthiness, a sense of ability and a sensitivity towards others. The school is based on individual and group needs, interests and abilities. We provide the child with materials and equipment along with time, space and guidance when needed.

By coming to assist the teacher in the classroom, participants derive valuable lessons that they can apply with their children at home. The total cooperative provides an environment which takes into consideration the total child; his physical, social, emotional and intellectual growth.
