School of Autism is a sensory immersion school for children with autism, pdd-nos, global developmental delay and sensory integration issues. It opened Summer 2006 and started it’s preschool program September 2006. The goal of School of Autism is to keep expanding, keep improving, keep learning—so the best educational environment and experience is provided to local children with autism. Some of SOA parents aim to have their child mainstreamed into public school and simply need a little longer to prepare their child—we can do that! Some of SOA parents want to provide their child with a completely alternative education and we can do that!

At SOA, we work hard to help children with autism, pervasive developmental disorder, sensory integration disorder and global developmental delay develop skills in areas where they have difficulties and showcase talents in areas where they shine.

We believe that children with these challenges need the right kind of environment, love and relationship developing strategies in order to learn. We also believe that these children will develop a sense of security, self-worth and personal accomplishment while attending SOA.

School of Autism is dedicated to serving children with learning differences and amazing abilities that have a wide range of backgrounds, family needs, income levels, religious and ethnic backgrounds and lifestyle choices. We warmly welcome this diversity and know that it enhances the learning and relationship building experience of our students, families and staff.

As parents and educators, we believe that all children have a right to respect, understanding and nurturing. Children must be provided an environment that is safe, yet stimulating, and a curriculum that challenges them through creativity, self-choice and learning through play. Therefore, our program supports the following philosophy about children and their growth:

Each child as an individual learns in different ways, at different speeds, by different methods and at different ages of maturity. A positive self-concept develops in children who can fulfill their goals, accomplish tasks on their own, cooperate with others and in turn receive positive feelings from others.
