Horizons Child Care Learning Center

The Daycare center is opening its third year of operation in November of this year. The Horizons program is under the auspices of the Muslim Academy of Central Florida and was created in response to a demand for Islamic based child care for infants and preschool age children.
Horizons is licensed by the Department of Children and families (DCF) and provides childcare services for children from two weeks to five years of age. When Horizons opened its doors in 2000 there were less than 20 children and a staff of five teachers.
Horizons is currently close to doubling the number of children initially enrolled from two years ago and now has a staff of seven teachers. Horizons continues to maintain a commitment in providing quality care and learning experiences in a loving Islamic environment. The teacher/student ratio has remained much lower than what DCF requires so that we may provide the children enrolled at the center greater opportunities for one-on-one contact with their teachers.
All of our teachers are required to complete 40 hours of state mandated childcare training. However many of our teachers complete additional childcare education classes not required by DCF. A further DCF requirement is that we have at least one person on staff that is certified in first aid and CPR. At Horizons however safety is a high priority; therefore we require that all of our teachers receive this training.
