In 1963 several visionary New Yorkers associated with the United Nations recognized the need for creating a playgroup in which to bring together culturally diverse young children in the heart of our city. It is out of that insight that The International Preschools saw its beginning.
We are delighted to report that IPS has continued to mature gracefully securing its reputation as a first-rate institution. As the school has grown over the last four decades adding new locations (most recently our West 76th Street location) and more students it has garnered wisdom reflected by the years of experience of its dedicated faculty. IPS has nonetheless remained youthful and forward-looking in its approach to education continually assessing the needs of preschool children in today’s world while holding to its commitment of offering a quality preschool experience in which children learn and thrive.

The International Preschools provides children and their families from all over the world an opportunity to share their cultures and gain a sense of international awareness through mutual understanding and respect. All children are individuals with unique qualities and interests. Our developmentally based curriculum is designed to build on each child’s strengths. Through play we seek to promote the cognitive emotional social and physical growth of each child within a nurturing atmosphere. The cornerstone of our curriculum is a commitment to help children develop self esteem while encouraging independence and emphasizing concern and respect for one another.
