Maitland Montessori School

Montessori is an internationally known system of education based on the philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori. She was the first female physician in Italy and through her work with economically and academically disadvantaged children she developed a new system of education which was based on respect for the child. In 1907 she began her school Casa dei Bambini in Rome Italy. Within one year her students achieved higher academic levels than children in the Italian school system. Since then Montessori education has grown and is used in innumerable private and public schools throughout the world.
