Our methods are based on the principles of a wide range of
Early Childhood experts. We are not bound to one method and
are therefore able to improve our program on an ongoing basis;
not ‘stuck’ in one way of doings things. We are dedicated to
providing superior educational and developmental opportunities
for the children entrusted to our care.

We think of Little Tumbleweeds as an extension of your

family as a community. It is our belief that each child should be
treated as an individual member of out community and not forced
to be someone they are not. We teach and expect respect for the
person property the family and the community. We feel that at
these young ages it is imperative that we teach children how to
be socially responsible and we strive to give each child the
self-esteem that they so richly deserve and need in order to
become the people they aspire to be.

Young Children learn mainly through play through interaction

with real world experience. Our caregivers capitalize on this by
observing the children and using their play to further language
skills (such as story telling and dramatic play) improving social
skills (by creating something together as a group) introducing
science and math skills (stacking and balancing blocks to build a
tower or mixing paint colors). Each day children are given some
freedom to participate in activities in which they are interested.
We do prepare a schedule including curriculum group play quiet
time and exercise for indoor and outdoor activities.

Our philosophy can best be described as ‘flexible structure’
sine we can change the schedule as needed to follow the
direction our children sometimes lead us into. We use a less
structured approach by using smaller groups or one on one
teaching in order to teach the individual child according to their
interests. We build the skills they will need for their future in upper
level schools through activities such as art dance music
computer and crafts. We will help them learn about trust and gain
a sense of security.
