As a ministry of Crossroads Community Fellowship since September 7th1988 Sonshine Child Development Center strives to allow the love of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior to shine through us as a staff to the children their families and the community.

SCDC provides a safe place for children to be while their parents work. We also provide the gifts of time love and nurture to each child in our care. The staff communicates closely with families to share information about a child’s needs and preferences. We aim to provide a happy positive professional environment for the children where the staff respects the individuality of the parents and each other.

All adults involved with the center work to establish a healthy supporting community where the board staff and parents respect each other’s efforts to raise children in a godly encouraging and loving manner. Parents are offered a voice in the care and education of their children and opportunities to participate in the center’s daily program. In this way the staff hopes that each family will feel that they belong to the community within the center.

At Sonshine it is recognized and appreciated that play is a vital part of learning for children. It is also recognized that each child has their own special learning style and gifts. The program at SCDC provides children with opportunities to learn necessary life skills at their own pace and interest level.

SCDC participates in regular self-assessment and always strives to develop and grow in offering high quality care and education to children. We help children and families prepare for future learning experiences. We do this by helping them develop and grow in the mental social physical and spiritual areas of life. We seek to support and find assistance for any child and family who express a need in the areas of physical emotional or academic development.

We strive to make Sonshine a place of daily joy comfort and learning for each person – child and adult – who spends time with us.
