LeSueur Nursery School

The concept of the Le Sueur Nursery School began over 60 years ago. We began in a church basement and after two years graduated to our own building which looked like a little white house of the 1950s. The Le Sueur Nursery School is an educational program for children from three to five years old. The children attend 2 1/2 hour sessions with other children of the same chronological age and further geared to their development level. Their play experiences are designed to enhance early learning with a goal of kindergarten preparation. Art, music, rhythm, story, and learning centers are used to reach our objectives during each session.

Our Goals are the following:

• to support the child’s social/emotional development
• to support the child’s physical development
• to support the child’s cognitive development
• to support the child’s growth in the development of creativity
• to support the child’s growth in the development of self esteem
• to support the child’s growth in respect for others
• to support the child’s positive attitude toward learning and the school environment
• to support the child’s growth necessary for kindergarten
• to support the child’s positive attitude in being a life long learner on the journey of achieving their full potential

Our students are three, four, or five year olds. Many come to us during a part of their daycare day. Our students must be toilet trained. They must be three years old on July 31 of the current year or 4 years old by September 1 of the current year.

Our staff is fully licensed by the State of Minnesota. There are two to three teachers in each class with no more than 20 children in each class. We are fortunate to have an experienced staff with little or no change in staffing from year to year.
