Hilltop Child Development Center

Hilltop has been providing high quality care and education for young children on the KU campus since 1972. We are extremely proud of our reputation for providing warm, loving care for children while simultaneously offering a developmentally appropriate educational curriculum for every child. We feel very strongly that children learn, grow and develop best in a planned, yet flexible, environment that offers children a variety of choices. The curriculum for each age group is designed to accommodate the individual needs and interests of the children enrolled.

Our teachers offer learning activities and experiences which encourage creative and intellectual expression, stimulate learning and promote a warm, accepting and flexible learning climate for children. Each child’s role is to be active, experimental, exploratory and selective.

Our goal is for all children to feel positive about themselves, their teachers and their experiences. Our teachers use a positive approach while teaching, caring, educating and disciplining. The result for your child will be a balance of learning, love, security, freedom, independence, consideration for others and a feeling of self worth.

We want all of our families to feel that Hilltop belongs to them. We welcome input and suggestions and encourage all of our families to be actively involved in their child’s classroom and in center activities and events. Through the years parents have often commented that Hilltop is like a big family a place where people really care and try to help each other with the difficult job of raising happy, capable children.
