Washington Elementary School District recognizes the need for high quality school-age care.
High quality school-age programs have at least three features:
1. They provide experience for the development of the whole child, including
emotional, social, physical and intellectual growth.
2. They strengthen the care and guidance provided by the parents.
3. They enhance and extend the learning opportunities from the school day in a creative
hands-on learning environment.
For children of this age, the KidSpace program provides opportunities for discovering and
practicing skills, accepting responsibility, and being with adults who are good role models.
Adults will help children discover talents and gain confidence.
School-age programs will provide activities different than those provided during the regular
school day. The program will take into account the childrens desire to explore, reflect, plan,
expand and complete projects according to individual needs and interests.
