Christ Lutheran Learning Center

The Learning Center is a morning preschool for children age 18 months through four years and is part of the educational program of experiences and interactions with others at the Learning Center. We want each childs life to be built on the foundation of Gods love and care. Christ Lutheran Church as well as an outreach ministry of the church. Our spiritual goal for the children is that they feel the love of God through their positive experiences and interactions with others at the Learning Center. The policies and activities of the school are controlled and guided by the Administrative Board of Christ Lutheran Learning Center. This board is appointed by the Christian Education and Youth Committee at Christ Lutheran Church.

As educators we are aware that each child develops according to his or her own internal time clock. Therefore we gear ourselves to the childs individuality and encourage him or her in all areas of growth. Our program may appear informal and flexible but the curriculum and environment are the result of careful detailed planning. We offer a program that will provide the child with a wide variety of learning experiences so that the needs and interests of individuals may be met. A day may include a choice of activities in a number of interest centers: music creative movement art science dramatic play cooking reading story telling manipulative and block play outdoor play and unit study in areas of concepts. A balance of these activities is utilized in large and small groupings.

Classes are offered two three and five days a week from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for all children age 18 months through four years. The Learning Center is in session from September through mid-May and observes all GISD holidays and in-service days. Enrollment at the Learning Center is limited in order to maintain a low student-teacher ratio with the birthday cut-off for each preschool class being September 1st. All children in the three and four year old classes must be toilet trained.

The Learning Center does not discriminate on the basis of race religion color national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational or admission policies. Priority for enrollment is given to families who currently have children enrolled in the program and to members of Christ Lutheran Church through March 15th. Thereafter openings are filled on a first-come first-serve basis.
