The spirit of our Jewish tradition and heritage rests at the heart of Temple Emanuel Early
Childhood Center philosophy. The ECC follows the Jewish calendar and all the Jewish holidays
are celebrated in a manner appropriate for young children.
Our children are bright and intelligent souls. They will be exposed to the wonder of discovery
and learning new things. Ultimately they will become their own teachers, seekers of knowledge
and understanding on their own terms. We believe that the best way to prepare children for their
future is to encourage them to think for themselves, to make their own decisions, and to trust
themselves. Our children will develop an essential sense of their own self-worth. Fostering
independence and curiosity helps each child attain their own worthiness.
For young children, play is learning. Through their play they learn basic skills and concepts.
Through play, children learn to be a part of a group, to share and meet new friends. Children
learn the fundamental concept of socializing and how to get along with each other. All other 2
learning is based on this fundamental ability. Our Emergent curriculum mode will continue to
be incorporated into our curriculum as much as possible in order to develop activities and enrich
environments which reflect the childrens interest, while offering appropriate developmental
tasks. Children are allowed to select their own play activities.
Temple Emanuel Early Childhood Center was started in 1971 with two teachers and twelve
students. Today it has more than 40 teachers and 260 students. Throughout the years, Temple
Emanuel ECC has continued to be a leader in early childhood education in the Denver
metropolitan area. The school serves all children, regardless of ethnic, racial or religious
background.
At the center of this intimate setting is a dedicated, professional staff who provide a secure
climate within, enabling each child to develop socially, intellectually and emotionally. Each
staff member knows that the primary objective is to make the children feel that going to school is
a natural and exciting experience and that there is nothing quite so wonderful as discovering
something new
