Grace Lutheran Preschool and Kindergarten is a ministry of Grace Lutheran Church that
seeks to partnership with parents to nurture young children in the Lord. It is to be a place
and program that will provide teachers, lessons, and even play activities that bring Jesus
Christ into the lives of children. Jesus is our Lord and Savior. Our Preschool and
kindergarten is built on Him. Our Preschool and kindergarten personnel stand in His
place, dedicated to be as warm, gentle, wise, and caring as he is with all of us. Our
Preschool and kindergarten is an additional way in which Grace shepherds the young of
our parish and community families.
Grace Lutheran will strive to meet the challenge of the Great Commission, reaching out
to the community and the world with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, and will
provide a center for spiritual growth for its entire people. Empowered by the Holy Spirit,
we will follow Jesus command to love one another, showing care and concern by
individual needs and will encourage each other to grow in faith through worship, the
study of Gods Word and prayer.

All who have a faith relationship of trust in Jesus Christ are commissioned by Him to preserve
and extend the Kingdom of God. This becomes the whole churchs responsibility when
Christians gather. Its Preschool and kindergarten is considered a full part of the Grace Ministry
and mission. As an important childhood and family ministry the Grace Lutheran Preschool and
Kindergarten helps fulfill each of these main functions: education, worship, evangelism,
fellowship and service. Each persons uniqueness is recognized and individuals are helped to
achieve their full potential. Each knows that he or she is a valued, accepted and respected part of
the school community. Children are helped to grow in their prayer lives, learning to pray
privately and corporately whenever needs or opportunities arise.
At Grace Lutheran Preschool and Kindergarten, children always come first before planned
curriculum, before rules and before adult convenience. The goal of the program is to work with
each and every childs natural development and to support the emerging self within. We believe
that learning happens in relationships and that this happens best in relationships which are
characterized by personal respect and caring responsiveness in a Christian environment. Thus
respect is carried throughout relations between staff and children, staff and parents, and staffs
relations with each other. We believe children learn in an environment that motivates them to
want to learn. This happens when they are allowed a great amount of control over their own
activities. Our flexible environment in a natural setting encourages this. We strongly believe that
curriculum is all that happens to the child while he/she is at Grace Lutheran Preschool and
Kindergarten every moment of the day, and that it is generated from all people staff, parents
and other children. Play with purpose is the primary vehicle for curriculum. It is the childs most
valuable learning tool and is the means to self-awareness, interactions, problem solving, acquired
mastery and learning. Our major commitment is to help children learn, rather than concern for
content taught by teachers. In addition, the school strives to strengthen parents skills and their
desire to have strong families.
