Our school offers a warm, comfortable environment allowing children to express themselves freely as they play, learn and grow. We are a licensed, multicultural preschool offering a variety of fun and educational activities for children aged 8 weeks to 5 years. We are an Abbott contracted center with two Abbott classrooms at this time. All of our rooms are first floor with handicapped accessibility, and are large, sunny, and bright. Our secured main entrance has camera surveillance and all persons must be buzzed into the center.
We offer early childhood learning experiences plus childcare hours in the rural community of Upper Deerfield Township, Cumberland County, New Jersey. Our facilities are open from 7:00 to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Over the past 25 years we have been a part of this growing community, as a connection to the local school district, a choice for mainstreaming and integrated preschool experiences. We are leaders in the community, and are represented in the local college community as partners with practicum experiences, and sites for staff workshops and in-service programs.
Our staff consists of experienced, well trained professionals in Early Childhood, with certified credentials, as well as other staff earning their credentials while growing professionally. The teachers at both of our centers further their education through college courses and workshops, keeping them up to date on current curriculums and developmentally appropriate practices.
Our staff is always ready and willing to help our families in any way that we can. We are proud of our open door policy enabling parents to visit at any time. Children need to feel their work is important to succeed. We help your child prepare for their future education.
Our school prides itself in caring for the children of our community, while offering a well rounded program which suites each families needs.

In a caring and positive atmosphere, we create a warm and happy place for preschoolers to learn. As we bridge the gap from home to school, we guide children to a continued good self-image while building social skills in a school setting.
Sensory, motor, perceptual and language skills are introduced through materials and activities which are both child-centered and teacher directed. Work is planned which emphasizes the process rather than the product, fostering a sense of accomplishment and pride.
Based on the theory that children learn through play, classroom routines encourage active involvement, meaningful experimentation and reinforcement through repetition. Schedules are designed which balance structure and free choice, as well as active and quiet times.
Recognizing that children grow in predictable stages, we treat each child as an individual, working from the level each child has attained and moving forward a step at a time. We teach a love of learning by allowing children to experience their own stage of development and helping them to feel success without pressure.
We value the active involvement of parents in our program, both through workshops and group meetings. We have an open door policy that allows a parent to visit our center at any time.
Parents may gain valuable insights and techniques from the expertise of the staff; and, at the same time, share their own talents and interests to maintain the excellent quality here at Upper Deerfield Pre-School.
