The University of Michigan Childrens Center established in 1980 is a program serving approximately 190 children from infants through age 6. The Childrens Center offers half-day session for all age groups as well as a full day option for children 3 to 6 years of age. The Childrens Center provides families with your children in Ann Arbor and the surrounding area with an exemplary infant toddler or preschool experience while serving as a resource for the University facultys scholarly agenda and providing University students interested in the development of young children with a setting for observation participation and research.

Our programs are dedicated to providing a safe supportive consistent challenging and holistic environment for young children and their families. Each childs day has an individual rhythm as well as a predictable flow and structure. To ensure this balance we provide a warm nurturing setting that encourages children to learn through hands-on interactive exploration. A play-based approach provides a child-centered teacher-guided curriculum in which children are encouraged to construct their own knowledge. We are committed to creating a nurturing learning environment in partnership with parents to develop a sense of belonging and high self-esteem in each child. Our staff receive comprehensive ongoing professional development to stay current with the unique needs of young children and their families.
