Head Start initiated by the Office of Economic Opportunity in 1965 was designed to provide a comprehensive program to children of low-income families addressing their emotional social health nutritional and psychological needs. The program servers children and their families by providing a quality preschool program to equip children with the knowledge needed to succeed in school as well as volunteer career and education opportunities for parents. Services are available for children with special needs.

Head Start believes that the parent is the first and prime educator of the child. Opportunities to volunteer in the Head Start program are offered to parents to develop skills to help their children become life long learners.

Head Start is a place where children will develop early literacy skills become independent work with other children develop listening skills learn to share and feel safe in a new place. We provide children with a safe and healthy place to learn about themselves and the world around them.
