Brookville Center For Children's Services

Today the Barbara C. Wilson Preschool continues to provide quality early childhood education for children requiring special education services as well as classroom opportunities for children not requiring special education. We serve children with a variety of developmental needs including children on the autism spectrum. The school offers a variety of full day class size options for center based special education. In addition the school offers integrated classrooms which service classified and non-classified students in one classroom. The Barbara C. Wilson Preschool is an approved preschool evaluation site for preschool-aged children.

The program operates using a team approach. Each classroom is staffed by a multidisciplinary team which includes the teacher and assistants speech/language pathologist occupational therapist physical therapist psychologist and social work. Teams meet weekly to review the childrens programming. All members are aware of each others goals and objectives so that children benefit from a truly integrated learning environment.

Our unique philosophy uses a neuropsychological approach to understand childrens developmental issues and enhance treatment programming. We also utilize a school wide positive behavior support system to promote positive behavior and social development of all children. Parent participation in classroom observations workshops and support groups offered by the school is strongly encouraged. In addition an active and vibrant Parent Association provides fun activities for children and parents. This facility is authorized to administer medications
