North Tacoma Montessori

At NTMC, we see as our task, in fact the responsibility of all educators, to help human beings develop. Our goal is to offer the children an environment that stimulates their inner potential at each stage of development. We want the activity of the child to be self directed and our classrooms are arranged to offer the child many different choices. North Tacoma Montessori is advised by Bates Technical College and offers Early Childhood Education with a Montessori Emphasis. Weekly lesson plans are followed in both the Toddler and Preschool classrooms. Before and After School Age Care is offered for children in the surrounding elementary schools and transportation is provided. Field Trips,Monthly Nursing Home visits and weekly neighborhood walks enhance our programs.

Our program of study includes mathematics, language, science, geography, art, music and physical activities. We endeavor to give the children wide and varied experiences in many areas, and we work with each child at his/her own level. We welcome suggestions from parents regarding programs, tours, etc. and encourage parent participation.

Our staff is carefully selected to compliment our philosophy and curriculum. Staff members receive on-the-job training in the Montessori method and usually have many years of experience in early childhood education. All lead teachers are either Montessori certified, or have an ECE degree. All assistants are either currently enrolled in one of the above areas of educational expertise. In-service training and educational opportunities help us maintain high caliber care and education for your child.
