Developmental means we work on the assumption that children learn best when they are ready for new experiences and that these experiences build on earlier ones. What children are learning what they are interested in and what they are capable of learning is intricately tied to their development. Particular experiences are determined by an individual childs interests
and abilities. Staff follows the childrens lead in planning and implementing a varied program of activities. The repetition and
perfecting of skills is important and respected. When children have done thoroughly what they need to do as a 6-month old an 18-month old a 2 -year old or 4-year old they will be prepared to move on to new experiences and learn new skills.

We focus on the individual child how she/he lives within a group
and believe in strong connections with each childs family. We seek to
create a partnership with you. While we seek to provide a place for
children where they can explore reach and exceed their potential
these goals differ for each child at different times in his/her
development. We also strongly believe that each day in the childs life
is important not just for the future but for the here and now.
The CFC is a very special place for young children exploring the
world. Those attending the program come from a wide variety of
ethnic and cultural backgrounds. The mix of languages and customs
provides rich and varied experiences for the children. In addition the
program is set amidst the spacious lawns and gardens of the
Rockefeller University campus which provides ample space for
exploration and outdoor play.
