The Children’s Greenhouse was established in 1979 to support Nassau Community College students staff faculty and administrators. The center is licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services and provides outstanding yet reasonably priced child care to allow parents to continue their education or employment knowing that their children are in a safe and nurturing environment. We work in tandem with the mission of the College which is to provide affordable and accessible high quality education and career preparation to the residents of Long Island and beyond. At the Childrens Greenhouse we believe that good child care depends upon consistent caregiving in a warm and friendly atmosphere. We also believe children learn and grow best in a comfortably structured environment where they are encouraged both individually and in groups to experiment and make discoveries.
Children who attend the Greenhouse come from a variety of family situations and a variety of ethnic religious and cultural backgrounds and we consider it essential that these differences be accepted and respected. Children are enrolled at the Greenhouse regardless of special needs and every effort is made to accommodate them.
