The Employees Child Care Center provides high-quality care for the children of Fairfax County government employees in a child-centered learning program where children are respected and nurtured. The ECCC promotes the development of the whole child through a developmentally appropriate curriculum. Through a team approach of open communication and cooperation between home and school, the ECCC provides strong beginnings for each child.

The ECCC is a learning environment where young children are encouraged to explore, be creative, cultivate positive relationships, experience the joy of learning and develop a sense of community. ECCC teachers are committed to providing safe, nurturing classrooms where children, in mixed-age groupings, can build positive relationships and a sense of community. Teachers value and encourage children’s natural curiosity, and emphasize warm and caring relationships and help the children develop a sense of trust and self-confidence. Children are given opportunities to explore their interests individually and within small and large groups, both in the classroom and outdoors.
The ECCC provides a full day of child-centered experiences for children from infancy to 5 years of age. The teachers give children a sense of control over their day by planning predictable, yet flexible, daily routines that meet the needs of the children. Daily schedules include time for group activities, child-directed activities, outdoor play, self-help routines, meals and snacks, rest and relaxation.
