Center in Brooklyn, NY 11201
The Arab-American Family Support Center (AAFSC) provides comprehensive social services to Arab-American immigrant families and children throughout the New York City area. Established in 1994 AAFSC addresses the unique needs of the Arab immigrant population across the city through a variety of programs services and activities.
AAFSCs mission is to empower new immigrants with the tools they need to successfully acclimate into the world around them and become active participants in their communities.
We provide a wide range of services to the Arab immigrant community including English as a Second Language classes legal assistance youth development programs domestic violence prevention and access to health care. In addition to these social services AAFSC promotes a stronger and more united Arab-American community and provides a strong voice for this community in city affairs.
Even today nearly eight years after the tragic events of September 11th Arab-Americans continue to endure an inordinate amount of discrimination ranging from acts of violence and selective enforcement of immigration laws to denial of employment and housing opportunities. AAFSC works tirelessly to address these issues not only by providing assistance to Arab Americans through support services crisis intervention and legal assistance but by conducting public education campaigns to eliminate the hatred and harassment faced by many Arab-Americans. Our youth program works with other social service agencies in New York City to promote tolerance and understanding among all races and nationalities.
AAFSC has demonstrated an unparalleled commitment to the Arab-American community for nearly 15 years. By both providing social services and serving as one of the communitys strongest advocates we reach a larger segment of the Arab population than any other agency in New York City. This facility is authorized to administer over-the-counter topical ointments only
