My name is Shuaiding (I go by Tina) and I am a rising sophomore at Vassar College. Having grown up in a Chinese household that values family bonds, I spent my teenage years taking care of my cousins’ children. I loved watching and helping them grow in every aspect of their lives, whether it’s playing games with them, watching their favorite tv shows together, helping them with homework, or teaching them how to better communicate their emotions. Witnessing their process of finding out what makes them happy and helping them achieve that was one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve ever had. I believe one’s childhood is one of the most critical aspects of one’s life, so I value the opportunity to help lay the foundation for a child to learn all the skills to lead a good life and be a happy individual.
In my free time, I love painting, crocheting, reading, and working out, so I love doing any type of craft or physical activities with kids. I am an excellent communicator who is able to speak with kids in ways that feel comfortable and encouraging instead of demanding, a patient worker who will listen to the feelings and needs of kids and dedicate time to making those needs met, and a responsible person who can perform the jobs I am assigned with and surpass expectations.
