My name is Daniel Lewis, and I am extremely excited to get the chance to be a sitter for you! Currently, I’m enrolled at Temple University, in the early childhood education major, where next school year I will become a senior, completing my year of student teaching. However, over the summer and during the school year I need to have a job to afford rent, have fun, and to guarantee I have excellent experience. I love children and working with children of all ages!

I’ve worked several jobs with children. One was at the little gym in Abington, where I coached gymnastics to children from the ages of 3-11. I worked at Plymouth Meeting Friends School as a summer camp counselor and after school program employee. I have a 3.85 GPA at Temple, and my teachers have excellent things to say about my character, intelligence, and work ethic.

One of my philosophies is play is the valuable work of childhood! It is certainly how motor skills and pre-academic skills are exercised and established. I see play as the time children develop interpersonal and intrapersonal skills, so that they can form healthy attachment and shape their emotional regulation! It’s easy to underestimate just how instrumental play is. Someone who really understands the value of play knows how to intentionally facilitate and moderate play, so that the skills I mentioned develop, and so that children are not deprived of their right to have fun! I think I am someone who really understands this!

A little bit about myself is that I love making art and watching movies. Every day I either play piano, draw, or do creative writing. If I have free time, I love watching several movies a day. I look for movies that have artistic and moral value, rather than movies that have pure entertainment value. I love working with children. I haven’t met a child I didn’t think was extraordinary. I’m extremely devoted to a career of being an early childhood educator. I see this potential experience with you as a very important stepping stone on that path! :)
