Growing up, my brother was 10 years younger than me, which created an invaluable built-in learning experience. I have been working as a payed babysitter and nanny on and off for 6 years now, but felt I learned the true value of the work after my university Child and Family Studies course. It not only further informed me of the importance of their formative years, but strengthened my passion for their care.
Other than this course and other various psychology classes, I majored in Theatre with a duel concentration in Acting and Costume Design. I believe this attribute is helpful when working with kids because you are an entertainer just as much as you are their teacher/mentor. I also find that my extroverted and high-energy qualities help me stay driven and attentive when it comes to interacting with kids of all ages.
