I have a lot of experience with children of all ages. I started out as a harbor camp instructor at the Sakonnet Yacht club in Little Compton Rhode Island in 2015. I helped with activities with children ranging from 5 to 8 doing different arts and crafts and outdoor activities. This led to many private babysitting jobs for families throughout the summers I spent at home in Rhode Island . Last summer I interned at Glasswing International, where I had the opportunity to work with high school students seeking asylum. I helped to familiarize them with New York and I taught them English. For someone who has had to adapt and figure out how to navigate life with a series of learning differences, one of the things that has helped me the most has been my love of children, because children are generally very innocent and kind, and they dont judge. They just want to be taken care of and made to feel special which I understand. I often feel that people with learning differences have a unique way of seeing the world. Certainly, that is what I feel about my experiences and see things that others might take for granted, because I have had to find a way through things that might be easy for others but have been difficult for me. I have an ability to look at problems and know that there is an answer, it might not be the most obvious one, but I know it is there. I could come up with good ideas as to what children actually want to do and feel rather than what people think they want.
