I first started babysitting seven years ago when I was eighteen during the summer months, often in my neighborhood. After a while, I began babysitting for other families through word-of-mouth in the greater Boston area. Two years ago I started working as a Behavioral Interventionist in California, where I worked with children with autism between the ages of 1-12. I have also volunteered at several dance camps for children ranging from grade school to early teens. All of these experiences were diverse and unique in their own way, and have given me a robust set of skills and experience in handling children as well as the confidence to understand their needs and provide optimal care based on individual differences.

I now study psychology at Columbia University and have found that I miss being with and taking care of children, as they provide that fresh dose of brightness, joy, and fun that’s often missed in normal adult life. With plans to one day work with children in my future career as a psychologist, I’m eager to resume babysitting and hone these abilities of childcare.

To me, babysitting is not simply a gig or a side hustle. It’s an opportunity to engage in an exchange of reciprocal learning and teaching and to become a friend to a young person who might need it. That said, I love children and feel like I’m constantly learning new things with them. You’ll see that I’m a mature, responsible, meticulous, and enthusiastic person that your children will love to be around!
