My name is Joy, and I am an energetic, thoughtful graduate student pursuing my masters in social work. One of four daughters born and raised in San Francisco, I was blessed to start babysitting at a young age as my two older sisters went off to college. I graduated from UCLA in 2018 and have spent the last 10 years working with kids (0-18yo) as a soccer coach, mentor, teacher, educator/facilitator, camp counselor, full-time private nanny, and distance learning home support. Last year, I worked at a mother-child residence supporting Infant Mental Health and early childhood development with pregnant and parenting youth in the foster system and their babies. During my visit home this summer, I had loads of fun looking after my 2yo niece for a week while her mother was out of town and father worked (starting at 4:30am).

I enjoy dancing, singing, rhyming, crafting, cleaning, learning to cook—especially with kids! I find children to hold so much wisdom and am infatuated by their curiosity, creativity and innate wisdom. As someone who deeply appreciates the little moments of delight and discovery, I find immense joy and gratitude in learning alongside the babies of this world. Jumping into my program just as I moved here last fall, I am excited to continue exploring all that our communities have to offer this summer and beyond.

I will restart school full time 9/5 and hope to do some research this summer, but whether your little (or not so little) ones enjoy outdoor activities, live music, reading, art, museums, learning new languages (I have studied French or Italian), or math, I would love to help out whenever my schedule permits!
