Children are both intelligent and funny. I love hearing about the world from their perspective. They are blunt, truth tellers, both curious and sensitive to the world. They are creative by nature, it simply has to be cultivated. I’ve been involved in child care in one form or another for most of my life. What has been most memorable and informing had been my time working with kids in the arts. I worked in collaboration with Studio in a School to bring art classes to the Henry Street Settlement summer camp. I also worked as a teachers assistant for the Brooklyn Creative Arts Lab which is run by BRIC. Working for the YMCA taught me so much about safety. They have the most trainings by far, only rivaled by the trainings required to be a NYC DOE sub. Most recently I have been working as a substitute teacher for elementary schools while finishing up a graphic design program. I have never babysat but I have been in child care for a long time. I would be excited to start my journey with a family this summer.
