Hello! My name is Asia. I am a recent undergraduate from Bard College in upstate New York and am from Los Angeles, CA. Working with children has been a passion of mine since I was young. When I was only nine, I asked my neighbor if I could help care for her newborn and since then I have been a regular child caretaker. My passion expanded when I began volunteering as a teaching assistant for a kid’s meditation class in high school. I helped facilitate hands-on art and crafts activities that encouraged the kids to explore and express concepts of Buddhism. I was also a weekly violin coach and mentor to lower-income students in a youth orchestra program. I have been an on and off babysitter for different families since 2015, but my longest-term position was working as a part-time nanny for a family of two children, ages 6 and 8, for almost three years in 2020. This showed me the fulfillment of being a key figure in a child’s life through long-term care. Since 2022 I have been a long term nanny for two different families in NYC with ages ranging from 3, 6, 9, and 14. My responsibilities have included but not been limited to after school pickup, naps, cooking, children related cleaning, homework help, creative engagement, outdoor and after school activities, and night time preparation. I love being a nanny and babysitter because I feel that caring for children can truly make an impact, not only for myself but for the families I work with.
