Im interested in aiding in children’s every day development (social, emotional, verbal, etc). Conversing and encouraging them out of their comfort zone builds trust, connection, and comfortability. I have had experience with working with children in school settings, mostly afterschool programs and summer camps. In my experience, Ive come across different age groups and personalities, whether a kid is vibrant, upbeat, or shy and/or may struggle with outward social skills. With most of my experience in child care, Im often responsible for aiding with school work, engaging them in after school sports and activities, and ensuring safety amongst the children. My favorite part about it all is when I can connect with the kids I work with and overtime, watch them grow out of their comfort zone and become comfortable around me. Rather than overly exert authority over them, I like to be intentional with children I work with and build trust so that the interaction is more easy flowing. Though it is my job to be a leader first and supervise children to make sure they are in order, having a foundation of communication, understanding, and boundaries can make it less stressful.
