Hello! My name is Amelia, and please allow me to tell you a bit about myself! I am a 23 year old recent grad from Pratt Institute currently living in Brooklyn. I majored in 2d animation and also took classes in fashion, art history, and film. I currently am freelancing within the animation world, and also host my own film festival, Goodie Bag Animation Festival! Additionally, I love to knit and crochet, and am currently teaching myself to lace knit!

Growing up as the eldest of four, it became second nature for me to take care of my siblings. I have a sister two years younger, and two brothers with 8 and 10 year age gaps from me. I learned a lot about childcare and being a role model from them, as they taught me how to show the world the best version of myself. In high school I babysat for family friends, with kids within the ages of 1-8 years. I was also a camp counselor for my elementary school’s summer rec program, as well as a soccer coach for children grades K-4. I loved both of these roles, as it was extremely validating whenever I was able to help motivate a child during a game, or when I would come up with a fun arts and crafts activity.

In addition to coaching and counseling, I used to volunteer with both the Boys and Girls Clubs in Red Bank and Asbury Park, NJ, as well as Young Audiences NJ. Both were after-school programs involving a collective art project that was completed within 6-8 weeks. My repertoire of completed projects ranged from paper mache theater props and masks, to decorative signs, to giant murals being hung in the school hallway. Being able to share my love for creation with energetic and unique young people was the best possible combination, and made me fall in love with art in a whole new way.

I do not have much paid experience with childcare within my resume, as most of my work has been volunteering, however that does not mean I am not well experienced. I am also currently in the process of renewing both my CPR and First Aid certification. I am looking to rejoin the childcare industry, as I have been working within the service industry for the past couple of years and would like to find a job that is more flexible with my freelance animation schedule. I always prioritize professionalism within any work I do, and love working with creative individuals. Ultimately, I feel I would be a good fit for anyone with a creative background, or who is looking to involve their child in more arts-related activities.
