Write a messageHello! My name is Aiyanna Rhayne (I prefer just Rhayne!) and I am a recent graduate of Bard College with a degree in Film Production and Art History.
As the eldest member of my generation in my family, I have been taking care of younger cousins and siblings since I was a child myself and therefore have experience in childcare from newborns to middle schoolers. When I was 12, my mother experienced severe postpartum depression following the birth of my little brother, so much of my tween and teen years were spent taking care of him since his infancy—this has included things like diaper changing, burping, putting to rest, appropriate food preparation, and eventually help with homework and other creative activities. Throughout middle and high school, I regularly babysat my neighbors’ children, as well, so I am comfortable caring for multiple children at once. While in college, I babysat the child of a grad student, and, notably, helped teach him to read. Not only am I experienced in child care, but I find true joy in spending time with children and encouraging their growth and creativity. Furthermore, my college thesis film starred a 6 year old, so I am confident that I can effectively communicate with children and encourage them to be the best versions of themselves. I would be more than happy to share some of my skills and passions with your children, which include: reading, drawing, creative writing, photography, cinematography and filmmaking, video installation, video editing, and cooking, to name a few.
I’ve also been cooking, cleaning, and taking care of dogs since my childhood and am happy to offer services in those areas as well.
It is important to note that I work about 25 hours a week as a projectionist/programmer at an indie movie theater. I receive my schedule every two weeks, so I cannot say with complete certainty which days I am usually free (for example, holiday season or a film festival might require different hours from a usual week). However, my supervisor is quite flexible with schedules as most employees have a second or even third job. That is to say, if I am needed I can request off (so long as it’s in advance), or if we find a routine schedule I can make sure my other work schedule doesn’t interfere. :)
