Write a messageHello, all!
My name is Julia Gobes and I am currently a 21-year-old English major at Arizona State University. I also hold a full-time flexible remote position as a social media and marketing co-op at a home equity company. Before this position, I was fortunate to experience two enriching internships, one with the marketing team at a cybersecurity company, and the other doing freelance marketing work for a psychiatric center. These professional experiences have honed my organizational abilities, attention to detail, and creativity, which I believe are valuable assets in providing well-rounded care. My exposure to diverse work environments has instilled adaptability and resourcefulness, qualities that seamlessly translate into caregiving.
My caregiving journey began around six years ago when my aunt adopted her son. My earliest memory of him is one that will stick with me forever: he was such a happy baby, and still is such a happy kid, managing to fill my aunt’s otherwise silent home with an abundance of laughter. Inspired by my aunt’s story as a working single mom who had so much love to share through adoption, I discovered the profound impact that positive caregiving can have on a child’s life. Since then, I have always found a way to keep childcare an optimistic outlet in my life, whether that be picking up the occasional babysitting job on a weekend or working with elementary and middle school aged children in classroom settings. Before I went into marketing full time, I had also interned with both elementary and high schools to pursue teaching, and although I decided it was not meant for me as a full time career, connecting with students (especially through reading and writing!) is something I genuinely enjoy.
Although I am not a teacher, my mother is! She has been a kindergarten teacher for almost thirty years, and I believe that growing up with her allowed me to develop deep emotional intelligence skills, including patience and empathy. Being that my mother works with young children full time, I am also completely aware of their quirky mannerisms and how to engage them in fun ways. One method of engagement that I prefer is DIY crafts, which not only sparks creativity but also fosters a sense of accomplishment and self-expression in children. I thoroughly believe in the power of creativity to enhance cognitive development and emotional well-being, which is why I hope to also use my English degree for creative writing one day!
As I continue to navigate my academic and professional endeavors, I am committed to providing compassionate and holistic care to families. I look forward to the opportunity to bring joy, support, and a sense of security to your family!
